ABSTRACT

Conflicts across the globe affect food security and also have a heavy toll on food safety. Many of the areas affected by conflict are breadbaskets for multiple countries. When the production of staple crops is compromised by diverse conflicts, it becomes necessary to grow them somewhere else to satisfy local, regional, and/or international requirements. However, if that production is done in tropical and subtropical zones, it must be done incorporating strategies to prevent mycotoxin contamination, which has negative health, social, and economic impacts. Otherwise, increased production of susceptible crops in mycotoxin-prone areas may augment the already occurring negative impacts, which are severe in the global south.

ABSTRACT

The covid-19 pandemic has severely affected the economy of the Philippines. With 90% of the labor force being affected, hundreds of thousands of families turn to their respective local government units for assistance. LGUs have begun distributing food box assistance to every family under the Food Security Program to ease the economic burden. However, such a program having a vast number of recipients will require a large budget. This study presents the optimization of the content of the food packs used for food aid distribution through linear programming using Matlab. The study's goal is to maximize the nutritional content of the food pack while being under the constraint of a limited budget to ensure the best utilization of scarce resources. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Everyday use of information and communication technologies by the global society that was accelerated by the virus COVID-19 pandemic has led to a drastic increase in the number of cyber-attacks, frauds and other security threats in cyberspace. Society as a whole has faced lack of cyber security professionals, low knowledge of threats in the cyber spaces and depths of the web with no existence of effective way of gathering cyber security intelligence and informing and warning the public on the threats. This paper will present the possibilities of boosting information security and cyber security awareness in the education and e-learning that will motivate future cyber security professionals to take their career path. We will also preview how we can use information on cyber-attacks and with machine learning models for security analytics that will contribute to better understanding of threats and threat intelligence. The aim of this paper is to show the possibilities of cyber security education and importance of awareness on the security threats in the process of reshaping the education. Paper should provide an overview of current state in cyber security area and technologies in this area as well as a proposal for the possible development of cyber security educational strategies based on machine learning and security analytics models.

The objective of this paper is to identify, analyse and assess the adequacy of the Polish National Cyber Security Strategy (Polish NCSS), including the implementation of EU's regulations. The article presents description and analysis of the the EU responses to cyber threats;and the Polish strategy. For comparison, strategic documents of the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Lithuania and Estonia are analysed. It presents the findings of a comparative analysis of the Polish strategy with the five national strategies and present recommendations to enhance cybersecurity.

ABSTRACT

Addressing patients' social needs is key to helping them heal from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), preventing the spread of the virus, and reducing its disproportionate burden on low-income communities and communities of color. New York City Health + Hospitals is the city's single largest health care provider to Medicaid and uninsured patients. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, NYC Health + Hospitals staff developed and executed a strategy to meet patients' intensified social needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. NYC Health + Hospitals identified food, housing, and income support as patients' most pressing needs and built programming to quickly connect patients to these resources. Although NYC Health + Hospitals was able to build on its existing foundation of strong social work support of patients, all health systems must prioritize the social needs of patients and their families to mitigate the damage of COVID-19. National and local leaders should accelerate change by developing robust policy approaches to redesign the social and economic system that reinforces structural inequity and exacerbates crises such as COVID-19.
